Appointments

Call us in advance to make an appointment. The toll-free 800 number is answered Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 am until 8:00 pm EST, Fridays 8:30 am until 7:00 pm, and Saturdays 7:00 am to 2:00 pm EST. Please bring any special problems to the attention of the phone counselor. If you have medical insurance you would like to use, please have that information when you make your appointment. If the appointment has to be canceled for any reason, please let us know at least a day in advance.

Eligibility

Eligibility for our procedures is up to the physician performing the abortion. All patients should have their pregnancy confirmed before making an appointment. We use our physicians pelvic exam, the date of the last normal menstrual period (LMP), and a sonogram to confirm eligibility.

The Cost

To ensure confidentiality we do not send bills for abortions. Fees are all-inclusive and include pre- and post-abortion counseling, laboratory studies, local anesthesia, physicians fee, and birth control information. A post-op exam and RhoGam for Rh- women is an additional modest charge, as is general anesthesia. Full payment must be made on the day of the abortion in the form of money orders, cashier's check, ATM Card, American Express, Mastercard, VISA, Discover, or cash. The credit card owner must be present to sign the sales receipt if a credit card is used. For collection reasons, we do not accept personal checks. This policy allows us to keep costs to a minimum.

We accept payment from the following insurance companies: Aetna, US Healthcare, BCBS, Cigna Healthcare, United Healthcare, and Wellpath. All other insurance we will file to reimburse you. Insurance must be verified in advance before you come for your appointment. Otherwise, full payment is due the day of your appointment.

GENERAL ANESTHESIA- (must weigh less than 200 lbs.)
General anesthetics produce an unconscious state. In this state a person is:
-Unaware of what is happening
-Pain free
-Immobile
-Free from any memory of the period of time during which she is anesthetized
General anesthesia is a controlled sate of unconsciousness that eliminates awareness, movement and discomfort during surgery.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) trained in anesthesia carefully balance the amount of anesthesia given by closely
monitoring the body's functions. Medications are used to:
-Prevent pain
-Prevent nausea and vomiting
-Prevent anxiety
Parts of the body involved:
With general anesthesia, the whole body is involved as it is put to sleep.
Breathing, heart rate, and oxygen levels are all closely monitored. Other parts of the body that are typically involved include:
-Arm or hand - intravenous (IV) line is plaed in the arm to deliver fluid and medicatoins
-Finger - pulse oximeter is placed on the fingertip to measure oxygen levels

Early Surgical Abortion

After medical history forms, labwork, and counseling are completed, you will be escorted into the procedure room. Medication to help with cramping will be given. The abortion method used is non-traumatic vacuum aspiration. It's hard to say what the abortion will feel like since it's different for each person. Some women compare it to menstrual cramps. But, because we use the simplest procedures, discomfort is kept to a minimum. We offer general (asleep) anesthesia for women who want to be asleep during the procedure. Afterwards, you are closely monitored for approximately one hour in a comfortable recovery room under the supervision of the nursing staff.

Late D&E Abortion

These abortions performed after the 12th week of pregnancy are similar to first trimester procedures, but because the pregnancy is more advanced, more time, greater physician skills, more medications, and more recovery time are required. Abortions past 16 weeks LMP may require a two day procedure.
